OK - This is from the stable of really fabulous science - not!! Astronomers can't find what they expect to find near black holes, namely old stars, so they put forward a new theory - that something is gobbling them up rather than face the possibility that their ideas are wrong. It's like Ptolemy's epicycles all over again.

| Ptolemy's epicycles were added to his view of the cosmos as his observations did not fit his theory - namely that the earth is the centre of the universe. Lesson - if it don't work don't fudge it. |
